SUNSHINE COAST PHOTOGRAPHY CLUB

The Sunshine Coast Photography Club (formerly The Caloundra Camera Group) is one of the oldest Clubs of its type in the region. It was incorporated in 1997 and is affiliated with the Photographic Society of Queensland.

The club offers members a wide range of excursions, social activities and photography competitions in a supportive environment for all skill levels.

New members are always welcome regardless of photographic experience or equipment as we strive to encourage the development of photographic skills and knowledge so that we all may achieve and share a greater enjoyment of the art of photography.

February Newsletter now available for download

The February 2019 issue of Coastal Exposures is available for download. Click the blue “Newsletters” button on the home page or click the following link:

https://caloundra.myphotoclub.com.au/wp-content/uploads/sites/95/2019/02/2019_February_ccg_newsletter.pdf

This is Nikki’s last Newsletter. Surely, all members will want to express their gratitude to Nikki for all the time and effort she has invested in producing a year’s worth of beautifully crafted and professionally edited newsletters. It is also noteworthy that she has again demonstrated her devotion to the club by volunteering to remain on the Committee in a General role in 2019.

Thanks Nikki!

Please note: There will be no further issues of Coastal Exposures if a member does not volunteer for the position of Newsletter Editor.

Now that a large percentage of club information is accessible directly on the MyPhotoClub website, newsletters can be greatly simplified. A few pages composed in a simple text document (e.g. Microsoft Word), with perhaps an occasional image inserted, will suffice to get the latest news out to our members. Now is the time to give just a little back to your club!

2019 March Collection of Comps Now Open For Entries

Our March comps are now open for entries in the usual way. My apologies for the delay in getting the comps set up — inadvertently, they fell into “no mans’ land” between the existing MyPhotoClub website and the MPC Version 2 site. The March comps close on Wed. Feb. 13. Good luck! We expect the Version 2 site to be up and running in February and everything will be copied over from the old site to the new.

Incidentally, you can watch a preview of Version 2 via the link beneath our masthead image. But if you have a slow Internet connection, or don’t want to look at YouTube videos, you can get a good impression of how our new website will look by going to the SEQ 2019 site; our new site is modeled on the same template.

Thanks for your patience and best wishes for the New Year,

Ed

Problem with CCG Secretary’s Email Address

A problem has arisen with the registration of our domain name (caloundracameragroup.org) with the provider, Weebly. Since December 07, the Secretary has not received incoming emails addressed to secretary@caloundracameragroup.org. Until I can get this fixed, if you want to contact the Secretary by email, please use Keven’s email: kevenhyde@gmail.com or alternatively you can email me, Ed Anderson, Technical Coordinator, at : ed4444@bigpond.com.

Apologies for any inconvenience; I’ll let you know when we’re back on the rails.

Regards,

Ed

February 2019 Competitions Open for Entries

All February 2019 competitions are now open for entries. February competition entries close at midnight on Wednesday, January 16. Please note that only February comps are set up for entries at present. This is because a major upgrade of the MyPhotoClub website will be implemented in January.

The February Set Subject is “That’s Funny”. No definition of this subject is given; make what you will of it!

Note also:

  1. All competition categories are now open to both Colour and Monochrome/Black and White images.
  2. The new category, replacing All Grades Monochrome Set Subject, is: All Grades Art Photography. To learn more about the subject of “Art Photography” please read the excellent article in our November Newsletter by Nikki Stewart. This category is open to both A Grade and B Grade members in both Print and DPI divisions.

Best wishes for an enjoyable, inspiring, and safe festive season,

Ed (more…)
