What’s happening in May? Not too much more rain we hope! Just to keep everyone in the loop, here are some details about the upcoming month –

4th-6th May – some members are off to the PSQ (Photographic Society of Qld) Convention being held at the Kedron Wavell Services Club in Chermside – we are hoping for a weekend of great speakers, interesting workshops, getting together with members of other clubs and hearing the results of the SEQ Competition, which lots of us entered.

Weds 8th May – our usual competition night – set subject “Architecture” – I’m sure we will be seeing some great images! Our old friend, Keven Hyde, is coming along as our Judge for the night. And don’t forget this is the closing date for entries into our next competition (set subject: “Nature”)

Those of you who were at the last Share Night might remember I had hoped to arrange a day trip to Brisbane for Sat 18th May, however, this is now postponed to Sat. 8th June – the plan is to either drive or get the train into Southbank, where we will be able to spend some time taking photos (keeping in mind set subjects of Street Photography and Urban Panoramas which are coming up later in the year), followed by lunch at “The Charming Squire” before we visit two exhibitions which are on at the State Library – the Nikon-Walkley Photojournalism 2023 Exhibition and the National Photographic Portrait Prize 2023. It’s up to you whether you decide to make a weekend of it and stay on in the city, or come home straight after that!

Weds 22nd May – Share Night when we look forward to seeing some of the results from our visit to the Maroochy Botanic Gardens, whether it be images depicting the set subject list, an AV presentation or the outline of a book for a primary school aged child. Looking forward to it.

Sat 25th May – lunchtime – Zoom link up with our sister club in Canada – full details will follow closer to the day.

Thurs 30th May-Mon 3rd June – club visit to Bjelke Petersen Dam – so far 16 of us have booked for this trip. Should be lots of fun, so if you want to join us, book your spot at the Caravan Park (either for your van/tent or in a cabin) – call them direct on 4168 4746 and then let me know you are coming.
