I hope you all enjoy this photo which I took recently in Hahndorf, South Australia – generally, we don’t get those beautiful autumn colours here in Queensland, but today feels like autumn has started, with clear blue skies and sunshine and a touch of crispness in the air! I love it!

We had an excellent and interesting comp night last night with Judge, Ben Stoffl – Ben is always interesting, entertaining and sometimes controversial but hopefully we all took away some good thoughts from the night. My job, as President, is to remind everyone about some of our rules around competitions – can I please draw everyone’s attention to a couple of pages in our Member’s Handbook (and I know you’ve all got a copy!) – Pages 2 and 3, where definitions are provided for our Categories. Please ensure that your entries into these categories fit the definitions that we have provided – in particular, we have specifically provided separate Open and Creative categories in DPI – this is to ensure that one doesn’t cross over with the other. If you need more of an explanation, give me a call – 0411 486 939 – I will be happy to discuss it with you. And on Page 5 of our little handbooks, please also note the specifications for the size of Prints (including mount-boards or mats). Do keep those little handbooks handy and refer to them if you aren’t sure about something. In some clubs, the committees go through images prior to them being provided to the Judges, and remove any images that do not fit definitions, sizes etc. As a club, we currently do not do this and rely on the Judge to mark down any images which do not meet our rules. We feel that it is better for members to take responsibility for “doing the right thing!”

Looking forward to seeing many of you on Sunday at Maroochy Botanic Garden. Enjoy your day!
