The Sunshine Coast Photography Club (formerly The Caloundra Camera Group) is one of the oldest Clubs of its type in the region. It was incorporated in 1997 and is affiliated with the Photographic Society of Queensland.

The club offers members a wide range of excursions, social activities and photography competitions in a supportive environment for all skill levels.

New members are always welcome regardless of photographic experience or equipment as we strive to encourage the development of photographic skills and knowledge so that we all may achieve and share a greater enjoyment of the art of photography.

THE PRESIDENT’S TROPHY 2020

The 2020 President’s Trophy subject is:

“CREATIVE ARTISTRY OF THE FLOWER”

Birds of Paradise (Strelitzia Reginae)”Gerry Gibson

I will be looking for an image of a single bloom, can be taken in the garden or in the bush even as a table top image.

Don’t hold back.

Use selective focus, use shading to control the light if in direct sunlight, may use a flash and reflectors, you could use material behind the flower of a complimentary colour to enhance the bloom, you could use textures over the flower, you could even use ICM.

There are many examples that are to be found on the net, one to look at is Kathleen Clemons, she is good.

We Hope You Have Enjoyed Your Break!

THE BOTTOM LINE

If you’ve read our latest newsletter, you’ll know we’re back in business on August 12 for our regular Competition Evening!

THE FINE PRINT

The current social distancing regulations the size of the room will not allow adequate space to seat all members safely and to allow the erection of our print stands, so sadly, while we are still finding our way through the maze of new legislation, we will not be able to accept print images for this competition, and will still be limiting entrants to one (1) DPI, which is to be lodged in the usual manner.

We are hopeful that we can overcome the logistics of handling and presenting print images in a safe manner that will satisfy the authorities in time for our September meeting!!!

When we do resume there will be some inconvenience to us all. It is a requirement, before entering the room, that sanitiser is applied to your hands and that you continue to practice safe distancing at all times through the evening.

You will also be required to register your details upon arrival.

Of course, if you are feeling unwell or have symptoms of a cold or temperature please stay at home.

Each member will be provided with a disinfectant wipe and will be required to wipe down their chair before leaving the meeting.

If the social distancing rules are lessened before August 12 you will be advised of the new requirements.

Thank you for your understanding and cooperation.

IN THE MEANTIME

Don’t forget to join us on Zoom next Wednesday 8th for our regular competition night – keep your eye out for the invitation email!

If you haven’t tried it yet – now is a great time to give it a go!
