It is with great sadness that I let you all know that our member, Mike Cave, passed away last Friday, 17th May 2024. Mike has had a long battle with cancer and has spent the last few weeks in palliative care, with his wife, Ilma, at his side. Mike joined our Club a few years ago and Ilma has written and said, “I’d like you to know how much Mike valued being a member of the club and how committed he was as a photographer. It gave him enormous pleasure to attend club meetings, to get to know other photographers and participate in competitions. His prize at last year’s awards (Image of the Year – Print) was a huge feather in his cap, especially considering the high calibre of the club’s output.”
Mike will be greatly missed by us all I’m sure – he will be remembered as a great character, warm and friendly and contributed much to our club. His award winning image, “Pitt Street Mall” has in fact recently been selected as part of the club’s entry into the Australia Cup competition.
Ilma tells me that Mike’s funeral will be held on Friday 31st May at 3.00 pm at Gregson & Weight, 5 Gregson Place, Caloundra – club members are warmly invited to attend.
