Hi All,

Just a gentle reminder that end of year is approaching and images and prints need to be in by Competition night, 3rd November 2021, which is less than 3 weeks away. This will also allow for images and prints submitted on the Competition night 3rd November 2021, to also be entered, if you so wish to.

This date has been set to allow for judging to be completed and time for the trophies and medallions to be engraved before the Annual Dinner night on 11th December 2021.

Also, a request to holders of perpetual trophies, if they could also be returned on or before competition night 3rd November 2021, as this will allow time for re-graving for this years’ winners.

Annual Awards

Criteria for awards and submitting images is summarised below:

Points are accumulated in each competition category throughout the year as follows.

• Four Award Points are given for a score of 9

• Three points for a score of 8
• Two points for a score of 7
• One point for a score of 6

The highest aggregate point scores in each category are presented with an Award.

In addition, members may also submit any of their DPI images entered during the year to be judged for Annual Awards in each category.

Only ONE DPI image can be entered in a category from those DPI images submitted in 2021.

Perpetual trophies are awarded for the following categories:

  • President’s Trophy (Print, subject, and definition previously provided by the President),
  • The Don Attree Founder’s Award (DPI Nature image),
  • The Robin Simpson Trophy (DPI Australian Landscape) and
  • The Ted Gillingham Trophy (Print, B-Grade, “My Country” based on the Dorothea Mackellar poem).

As usual, print images will also need to be entered into MPC for cataloguing, as well as the DPI competition entries.   These images for the Perpetual Trophies are to be new work by the maker and not entered into any competition in 2021 or accepted into previous club competitions. If images have received awards of 3 or less in previous competitions, they may however be submitted.
