Don’t miss NEXT WEDNESDAY!

I know what you’re thinking: “what a splendid photograph of a tiny beetle sitting on the very top of a stump!”, and it is too, but I have to say if I’d taken it a millisecond earlier it might have been even better.

NEXT WEDNESDAY IS COMP NIGHT!!

That’s right, it’s November when our Competition night is a week earlier than normal. A few days after that, all Annual Competitions close.

If you have prints to enter in the Annual Competition, it would assist us greatly if you could bring them to the Competition Night for lodgement. If you absolutely can’t, we understand, but please contact Alison to make alternative arrangements to drop them off before the closing date.

Awards Night/Christmas Party 2023

Di East receiving Image of the Year award from 2022 Judge, Andrew Goodall

By now I hope everyone is starting to get their entries in for the End of Year Awards. Our Awards Night/Christmas Party will be held on Saturday 9th December from 5.30 pm in the Clubhouse at Palmwoods Garden Retirement Village (Sundale), 61 Jubilee Drive, Palmwoods. Along with presentation of Awards, we will be serving a meal (BYO drinks and glasses please) – cost is $25.00 per head (partners, wives, husbands all welcome). Please pay our Treasurer, Trefor, as soon as possible, either by paying cash to him on a Club night, or transfer funds into the Club bank account – BSB 645646, Account No. 102588775 (payment required before the night please, so we have numbers for catering purposes) – make sure you put your surname as the reference if transferring funds. It will be a great night, so come along and enjoy it – hope to see you all there!

Life as Arte

Join us at our Share Night next Wednesday where Nikki Olivier will be our special guest, bringing her story of passion and purpose in her photography.

Of course there will be other special people speaking too, but you will have to come along to find out who!

Have you seen this person?

He or she has volunteered to help on every committee next year.

I checked our membership directory (you can too by clicking on the grey “MEMBERS” link on our website), and then on “MEMBERS DIRECTORY” link at the top left of the page that follows.

It turns out there are quite a few people who are so close to identical in appearance one could be forgiven for thinking they were clones, so I am going to nominate them all.

To avoid this fate and to help us just a bit, could you please add your profile photo as soon as possible.

And on the same very serious note, this is the time of the year when I start to compile the members directory for club distribution. (Phone number only)

While you are in there adding your photo (or updating it at least) could you please check that your email address and preferred phone number is current so that we can contact you to tell you what you have won.

Tewantin Shield Day Out and our November Comp Night

Hi folks – no that is not a picture of the Tewantin Shield (it’s our “Most Improved” trophy and was the only photo I had of a shield!!) But this is a post about Tewantin Shield Day Out, which will take place next Saturday, 7th October at Gympie Camera Club’s Clubhouse, 39 Saleyard Road, Gympie Q 4570, arrive 8.30 am for a 9 am start. Cost is $5 a head, plus sausage sizzle lunch for sale, raffles etc (so bring a few $$). Morning tea provided and photography activities are planned for the morning with a guest speaker too. Judging of all the entries (including ours) will take place after lunch. Do come along for a great day out (we are going) and stay for the judging – its a chance to see how judging of an external competition takes place. Please let me know if you are coming by Tuesday 5 pm, for catering purposes (Ann 0411 486 939 or abryan@bigpond.net.au).

And a VERY IMPORTANT REMINDER! Images for our own November competition (set subject Light Painting) must be entered onto MPC by this Wednesday, 4th October – a week earlier than usual as our November Competition Night is on Wednesday 1st November.
