External Competitions

Welcome back to Sunshine Coast Photography Club and to a new year of external competitions.

To keep you more easily updated on the status of the competitions we enter on your behalf as a club; as well as those you might like to enter for yourselves, we now have an EXTERNAL COMPETITIONS button on the right hand side of our web page. Please have an explore to see what’s there. We’ll be adding new competitions as they’re announced, as well as the images that we choose for you in the inter-clubs and the results as we get them.

First Interclub Competition:
The first inter-club competition for this year is SEQ which is organised by the Photographic Society of Qld (PSQ) and this is the only inter-club competition of the year which you need to enter for yourselves. Our club has done well with this competition in the past and with some more entries, could come first or second, so let’s blitz it this year with lots of entries in both digital and print categories. Prints will need to be brought to our Judging on the 8th of March, so we can deliver them for you on time. Entries close on 19th March. For more information, click this link to our Interclub Competitions Page. SEQ23

External Competition:
If you’re thinking of trying one of the external competitions, perhaps the upcoming APS National would be worth a try. The closing date is 30th March. APS Information.

We look forward to seeing you all for our first judging night on Wednesday 8th February.

SAILING INTO THE NEW YEAR

We hope that everyone is sailing smoothly into the new year. Our first competition night is only two weeks away on the 8th February.

If you didn’t manage to wake up in time to get your entries in, don’t fret, our March competition set subject is “Water in Motion” and you still have a couple of weeks to get your act together.

Behind the scenes we’ve experienced a strange glitch or two, with a couple of members accidentally entering multiple images in one competition. This technically is not possible and none of us can work out how it happened. It’s all fixed of course, but we’d really appreciate it if, when you are entering comps in the coming weeks you could keep an eye out for check boxes not checking themselves after upload and let us know if they don’t!

A BIT OF OLD NEWS

SUNSHINE COAST PHOTOGRAPHY CLUB INC.
Those among us who haven’t been around because they are in their caravan in Thargomindah or for whatever other reason, may have missed the announcement that approval for the change of name of our club was received on Friday of last week.

Due to a bureaucratic masterstroke, this is to take effect from the “date of the letter” which was something like the 29th November, and of course we are obliged to change all our documents, letterheads and so forth by then, somewhat retrospectively.

We’ve done our best to push post-Awards hangovers aside and do just that, but we’ve been in a bit of a flap, so if you discover that we’ve missed anything on the way, we would love you to let us know!

COMPETITIONS FOR NEXT YEAR.

I know, I know, you just want to be left alone until after Christmas!

Maybe you will after this – but remember that all competitions are now open for entry and that February entries close on January 11th.

The Caloundra Camera Club’s first ever handbook is available for download by logging at the INFORMATION FOR MEMBERS LINK on our website, which is at the old familiar address for the time being.
