A BIT OF OLD NEWS
SUNSHINE COAST PHOTOGRAPHY CLUB INC.
Those among us who haven’t been around because they are in their caravan in Thargomindah or for whatever other reason, may have missed the announcement that approval for the change of name of our club was received on Friday of last week.
Due to a bureaucratic masterstroke, this is to take effect from the “date of the letter” which was something like the 29th November, and of course we are obliged to change all our documents, letterheads and so forth by then, somewhat retrospectively.
We’ve done our best to push post-Awards hangovers aside and do just that, but we’ve been in a bit of a flap, so if you discover that we’ve missed anything on the way, we would love you to let us know!
COMPETITIONS FOR NEXT YEAR.
I know, I know, you just want to be left alone until after Christmas!
Maybe you will after this – but remember that all competitions are now open for entry and that February entries close on January 11th.
The Caloundra Camera Club’s first ever handbook is available for download by logging at the INFORMATION FOR MEMBERS LINK on our website, which is at the old familiar address for the time being.

THE END OF THE YEAR AT THE END OF THE WORLD
Our final share night of the year is next Wednesday (23rd November). Don’t miss Alison Hall recounting highlights of her I 20 day tour of Antarctica, Falkland Islands (Ilsas de Malvinas) and South Georgia Island starting from Ushuaia – End of the World (8 years ago).
Her photo presentation will accompany a bit of a background briefing in the Antarctic Treaty and the International Association of Antarctica Tour Operators. If you have already visited that part of the world, come along and relive your experiences, if you haven’t, now is your chance for a vicarious journey for the price of a cup of tea!
Also on what is turning out to be a bit of a packed programme:
Annette will put life member Ed under the spotlight in another One on One, and yours truly will run a very brief overview and Q&A session on a couple of minor changes to our competition rules for next year.
We’d love to see you there!

THE BEACH IS CLOSED!
Contrary to the notice sent out just a few short hours ago and as previously advised, the Surf, Show and Shine event will NOT be proceeding at the present time, and the competition will NOT be proceeding for the moment.
We do apologise for any confusion caused and will keep you posted when the re-scheduling is announced. In the meantime we’ll keep all of the entries we’ve received very safe and out of the reach of harmful UV rays, so you can be sure they’ll be in tip top condition when the competition comes back on line!
Thanks for your endless patience,
Peter H

You can’t photograph THAT!!
If you haven’t been told by someone somewhere that you “can’t take a photo here” then you haven’t been trying. When that happens, even if you think you are in the right, little seeds of doubt start to creep in.
Be informed!
At our next share night (this Wednesday 26th October) our guest speaker will be Peter Mitchelson who will outline exactly where and what we can do.
Of course that won’t be all. I’m sure we’ll be able to personally congratulate all those who participated in the production our hugely successful 25th Anniversary photo book, and perhaps we’ll have an opportunity to learn a little more of the history of the club when Annette conducts another “One on One” with one our our life members – Rhonda Reynolds.
See you there!

What a great Book
What a great job our book committee did. Di, Trefor, Doug, Tony, Ty, Luc and I did a little also, we had quite a few meetings, we selected the best images from members competition entries and placed them in the winning order. I don’t think we could have done it without Kathy’s tea, coffee, biscuits and cake. Thanks Kathy. There were a couple of members of this committee, without who’s work, talent, and hours spent going over the layout, proof reading etc. this outcome would not have eventuated. We will in time learn who they were. And then, there is of course the great photographs our club members have produced, that filled the pages of this great Coastal Exposure.
