March 2019 Set Subject is “Still Life”.

Definition of Still Life: Still life images involve inanimate objects placed or observed in a composed order, in a context, and with a background. Composition is an important feature, as may be balance and texture. Also lighting, as a feature to highlight the subject, separate the background, create shadows, and to create atmosphere, etc.

NOTE: The Closing date for the March competitions is Midnight on Wednesday, February 13.

This is an informal meeting for the Project Group to discuss plans, ideas, and raise questions. Lisa Kurtz may, or may not, be able to attend.

A travelling Camera Capers: Starting at Mapleton, lunch at Kenilworth, afternoon tea/coffee at  Mary Cairncross cafe.

This is a special “hand-over” Committee Meeting. We request that all 2018 and 2019 committee members please attend or email an apology to the secretary.

Our guest presenter is Alan Ashton from Olympus Camera. We anticipate that there will be time after supper for members to inspect the Olympus products and ask questions.

April 2019 Set Subject is “Nature”.

May 2019 Set Subject is “From a Poem”.

Definition of From a Poem: An image that has been inspired by a line of poetry. Preferably not the title, but from a line in a poem that you can capture in your image. How you approach this is fairly open, but remember to include your ‘one line of poetry’ in your final image. (but not your name or the name of the author). Hints: 1. Do not print the title. 2. Do not print a whole verse. 3. Those who have been with the club for some time, this is not one of your “pens and lens” images. 4. Those who have been in the club for a ‘while’, this is not one of your ‘song titles’ images. That means, create something NEW! (Triptych will not be accepted.)
