SUNSHINE COAST PHOTOGRAPHY CLUB

The Sunshine Coast Photography Club (formerly The Caloundra Camera Group) is one of the oldest Clubs of its type in the region. It was incorporated in 1997 and is affiliated with the Photographic Society of Queensland.

The club offers members a wide range of excursions, social activities and photography competitions in a supportive environment for all skill levels.

New members are always welcome regardless of photographic experience or equipment as we strive to encourage the development of photographic skills and knowledge so that we all may achieve and share a greater enjoyment of the art of photography.

What a great Book

What a great job our book committee did. Di, Trefor, Doug, Tony, Ty, Luc and I did a little also, we had quite a few meetings, we selected the best images from members competition entries and placed them in the winning order. I don’t think we could have done it without Kathy’s tea, coffee, biscuits and cake. Thanks Kathy. There were a couple of members of this committee, without who’s work, talent, and hours spent going over the layout, proof reading etc. this outcome would not have eventuated. We will in time learn who they were. And then, there is of course the great photographs our club members have produced, that filled the pages of this great Coastal Exposure.

This Weeks Share Night

Composition in Photography by Ralph Brown

At this Wednesday’s Share Night, Ralph will be explaining composition to us.

No doubt we all need to know the importance of composition in our photography.

Annette finally gets to Africa

The presentation will mainly be around travelling with camera gear and sharing some wonderful experiences.

I have been lucky enough to convince Andrew Goodall to come along and share his wisdom about travel photography and also share some of his amazing photography. I will also share some of mine. We want to run it like a Q and A session so if you are thinking of hitting the road or the air, this is the share night for you.

There will chocolates involved for those who can answer all the questions at the end.. Yes I am bribing you to come along. ?
You will need to bring your phone and hopefully we can get enough service to run the program I need.

Look forward to seeing you there…..

MACHINERY

The 2022 President’s Trophy should be open for entries when you receive this message. As is usually the case, this is a print competition open to all grades with a maximum of two entries per member.

This year the set subject will be: MACHINERY.

This could be:- Farm Machinery, Road Machinery, Minning Machinery, Machinery Around the House, Machinery at the Golf Course, Machinery at the Beach or any other Machinery.

The image is not to be a display of what the Machine is. Once you decide which Machine you are going to photograph, look for an artistic image of it.

We do not need to know what it is or how it works.

You will need to get close to it. Think of a composition containing – colour, lines, & textures (not added). The image should show all viewers that this is a machine, not say a spider who has taken up residence in the machine.

Make it as artistic as you like.

Have you saved the date?

There’s still time to cancel what you are doing on Saturday the 2nd July.

Clive has arranged this outing to coincide with “Cars and Coffee”, a monthly gathering of all sorts of car enthusiasts which starts around 7:00 so perhaps it will be worth arriving early to take advantage of

Any photographer would jump at the chance to photograph with models, but beautiful items which adorn these cars and then there is the colour!!!

SPOILER ALERT – you might find some inspiration for your President’s Trophy entry this year!

Please let Clive know that you will be attending.
