Would you like to visit the birthplace of PL Travers, creator of Mary Poppins? Or visit one of Australia’s best Military and Colonial History museums? Or photograph some wonderful colonial architecture, learn about the Time Canon or the Mary Ann, a truly unique steam locomotive? Perhaps magnificent parks and gardens are more your scene? Maybe a whale watching trip? Or visit a corner store just as it would have looked 100 years ago. These and more are all located in Maryborough.

Of course Covid-19 restrictions have rendered many of these unavailable but as restrictions are now lifting we can reasonably expect them to be open by the time we venture to Maryborough. I will be staying abreast of the latest information.

Gerry has requested I take on planning for this trip and you can rest assured I will put my best foot forward in providing a range of activities with something for everyone.

Members and partners are most welcome. You don’t need to be a photographer, there’ll be plenty of socialising in the mix.

The dates are 27th August to the 31st August, or for however long you wish to stay, some are staying 7 days. If you are staying longer could you kindly let me know the dates so we can consider some extended activities.

Huntsville Caravan Park is our main accommodation destination. The park is on the Mary river and has a hotel and shops very close by. There are some cabins but it appears they may be all booked. Caravan and camping sites are available. For those who have missed out on a cabin, the Minerals Sands Motel is 1 minute by car and 13 minutes on foot away from the Park. When you book please let me know where you will be so I can make sure we communicate effectively with everyone during our stay.

We will contact Maryborough Camera Club to explore opportunities to join them or some of their members in a social event.

We are also planning a Hervey Bay whale watching trip. It will be a half day on Friday 28th August aboard Whalesong and will include meals. We may make a day of it in the Bay and visit the Botanic Gardens and Urangan Pier.

We would love to see you there. When you book please let me know the following:

Where you have booked,

Are you interested in a half day whale cruise?

Cheers, Greg.
