EVENTS 2017 Caloundra Camera Group
Some great events are planned for the upcoming year. Please put your names down in the Events Book NOW.
Sunday 19 February – At 9 am – let’s start the year with a fun morning visit to Queensland Zoo/Wildlife HQ which is based at the Big Pineapple, Woombye. The Zoo has Red Pandas, a Sun Bear, Ring-tailed Lemurs, Tamarins and many more animals from Africa, Asia and Australia. We will spend the morning at the Zoo and then go on to Palmwoods Hotel for lunch. Children welcome too. If we have a group of at least 10 people, adult entry to the zoo will be $22 each, seniors $18 each (lunch extra). ‘Animal encounters’ are available (4 people at a time) for $30-40 per person. Monday 27 – 31 Friday March (4 nights) – a trip to the beautiful area of Killarney (30 kms from Warwick) – we will be staying at Killarney View Cabins & Caravan Park (check them out on the internet) so either bring your van or stay in one of the lovely cabins! There will be marvellous opportunities for heaps of wonderful photos – we will do the Falls Drive, maybe the Settler’s Route, visit Glengallen Homestead, have lunch at Spring Creek Café, visit historic Warwick etc etc. Costs: Cabins – from $226-$280 per person in total for the four nights (so approx. $500 for a couple for the 4 nights) dependent upon 1 or 2 bedroom cabin; caravan sites $31 per night, possibly slightly cheaper for a group of vans. It will mainly be self-catering although we will have a couple of dinners out at the local pub. They have a great camp kitchen with seating for around 50 people which we are all welcome to use. We will have a great time, so get your name down NOW in the Events book!
Sat/Sun/Mon, 29/30 April +1 May – PSQ (Photographic Society of Qld) Convention at Qld Conference & Camping Centre, 179 Gold Creek Road, Brookfield – a great weekend of speakers and workshops – more details to follow or check the PSQ Website – make your own own arrangements to attend.
Fri/Sat/Sun, 2/3/4 June – day trip or weekend in Brisbane – full details to follow – photographic opportunities are endless – street photography, architecture, night-time etc etc.
July – Date to be confirmed – Abbey Medieval Festival at Abbey Museum, off Bribie Island Road – check their website a bit later in the year. Make your own arrangements to get there.
Mid-July – date to be confirmed – Camera Capers – a day of fun and games with your camera – a day to challenge your skills as a photographer!
Wed 6 – Mon 11 September (5 nights) – a trip to the Town of 1770 and Agnes Water – a fabulous coastal area some 400 kms north of Caloundra – we will likely stay at the Captain Cook Holiday Village in 1770 – cabins and caravan sites available – costs start at around $120 per double per night for cabins and $37 per night for a powered site. There are some beautiful coastal conservation parks to explore, enjoy a trip on the LARC amphibious vehicle, perhaps a day trip to Lady Musgrave Island – what an experience!! 18-22 October – APSCON (Australian Photographic Society Convention) at Forster NSW – check their website – make your own arrangements to attend.
